very frothy and old times brother hood of surfing vibes , I was enjoying big tide surge tubes at Sanur , very nice mushroom soup in those days after surfing and lovely people who look after all Gods children no matter where you are from.

2:48 yes. Just watch Kelly Slater and his Styrofoam boards bouncing around at Tahiti. He only makes them work because of his ability.

One thing GEOFF doesn’t seem to agree with me on is ,that the Tail has to be thin enough for the tail to sit lower in the water…

Too many shaper's today are driven by form rather than function. Geoff understands function beautifully! I wish he had gotten into the different rail designs in this film. Thank you Paul for sharing his wisdom with us. Edit: I just found part 2, be sure to watch it!

I rode McCoy boards for a number of years in the late 80's. Still to this day, the first board Geoff ever shaped me at my dad's factory in Byron around '87, was one of the best boards I ever rode. He shaped me 2 very memorable boards to ride at Sunset ,a 6'8" and a 7'4". The 6'8" went unbelievably good at 8-12 foot Sunset. I resonate really well with Geoff's observations about sticking with the same board as long as possible, especially if it was a magic board. I had several magic boards that were broken and repaired that went so good, I couldn't get rid of em. Many contests I surfed in during 80's and 90's were broken or battered, but I had my best results on. Respect to you Mr McCoy and thanks for some wonderful boards 🙏. C Dog.

Just another elitist logger that can't just surf and enjoy it. Kind of hypocritical selling Chinese made boards created by people who will likely never get a chance to ride one, then spruiking about doing waves justice. Your surfing is entertaining but why philosophical BS? You have this Tim dude wetting himself.

He makes perfect sense about the world of surfing and where it's going I've met Neal back in the late 90s in Hawaii through friends and we surfed out at one or secret rights and it was a super shallow top to bottom barrels and he got some good ones none of us knew how well known he was in Australia we just had a sick surf and chill time hanging out after and it great to see after all these years he's still the same humble and ripping ALOHA

After surfing on McCoys, all other surfboards look like crude ironing boards to me. Best surfing experiences ever since I got McCoys. Mine are single fins. I surf these designs in Florida.

Thank you for explaining the concept of long board and short boarding. It's not about the difference of the board types - it's about the sameness. Each transport your soul, just in different ways.

I have a 9ft 6 inch McCoy single fin and I love it. Geoff makes a point about the dome cutting through waves more easily and I totally agree, it's very noticeable on his board compared to my McTavish. I think his theories on flow and energy are spot on.

Rediculous how few views there are on this video. Geoff McCoy is arguably one of the best, most thoughtful and inventive shaper ever if you are into shaping and surfing you wont learn more useful info than is available in these videos. Thanks for being so generous and sharing this info Geoff I know I will be using all this stuff in the next board I make for myself.
